Frank Jansen

Frank Jansen Photography came into being from the intersection of Frank's interest in photography and immersion into the world of dog agility through our Cardigan Welsh Corgi, Darwin, who is trained and handled by Frank's wife Kris. As a result, Frank's first interest was to capture the action in the agility arena to chronicle the accomplishments of Darwin and his friends. Rapidly, this expanded to include other events, such as herding, animal portraits and equestrian inspections and tests. Throughout all, Frank tries to capture the excitement of the event and the intensity of the animal athlete in his photography.

The rapid advances in digital photography helped make the decision to become an all-digital photography house. Frank's computer skills helped make this transition easy and allowed him to produce results aimed at pleasing the client with the end-product. Digital photography does not remove the requirement for sound fundamental photographic techniques and an understanding of the subject being photographed. Frank always looks to understand the subject, be it weaving through poles at blazing speeds, jumping gracefully over an oxer or sitting for a portrait.

Frank's other interests in photography are nature and product photography. The former for the challenge to capture an evocative image that tells the story of the scene and the latter for the joy of completely controlling the lighting and presenting a product in a way not seen by everyone.

Our Cardigan corps has expanded to three at this time. Besides Darwin, Kris also trains Ransom, who is making mark in agility; Frank is training Bette, who is getting ready to start her agility career during early 2007.
